Abstract:

This Research Spotlight provides a summary of the academic literature on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings, including: The influence of ESG ratings on mutual fund flows, the correlation of ESG ratings across providers, methodological issues with ESG ratings, and the relations between ESG ratings, performance, and risk. This Research Spotlight expands upon issues introduced in the Quick Guide ESG and Stakeholders.
